CliffCalculator.com is operated by Miles Girl LLC ("we," "us," "the site"). We provide free educational tools and content about California public benefits and retirement savings. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, how we use it, and the choices available to you.
Information we collect
Calculator inputs. The benefits cliff calculator runs entirely in your browser. The income, household size, county, and contribution amounts you enter are not transmitted to our servers, stored in a database, or shared with anyone. When you close or reload the page, that information is gone.
Forms you submit. If you use the subscribe form or the success story form on our Community page, we collect what you voluntarily provide — typically your name, email address, county, and any story details you choose to share. This information is stored via our form provider (Netlify Forms) and is used only for the purpose you submitted it (e.g., sending you threshold updates, or reviewing your story for possible anonymous sharing).
Analytics. We may use basic, privacy-friendly analytics (such as page views and referral sources) to understand which content is helpful and where visitors come from. This data is aggregated and does not identify you personally.
Cookies. Our affiliate partners (see Advertiser Disclosure) may use cookies to track referrals when you click an affiliate link and later open an account. We do not place our own tracking cookies beyond what's needed for basic site function.
How we use your information
- To send you updates about benefit threshold changes, if you subscribed
- To review and, with your explicit permission, share anonymized success stories
- To understand which pages and tools are useful, so we can improve them
- To track affiliate referrals so partner brokerages can credit us appropriately — this does not involve sharing your personal information with us
What we never do
- We never sell your information to third parties
- We never share your success story publicly without your explicit, opt-in consent
- We never require an account or login to use the calculator
- We never collect Social Security numbers, case numbers, or other sensitive identifiers
Third-party links
This site contains links to third-party brokerages (such as Betterment, Fidelity, M1 Finance, Tastytrade, and Schwab) and to official government resources (such as BenefitsCal and CalSavers). Some of these links are affiliate links — see our Advertiser Disclosure for details. Once you click through to a third-party site, that site's own privacy policy applies, not ours.
Your choices
If you subscribed for updates and want to unsubscribe, or if you'd like a success story removed, contact us through the Community page. Because the calculator itself doesn't store your data, there's nothing to delete from our side beyond form submissions.
Children's privacy
This site is intended for adults managing household finances and benefits. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
